Advertisement Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 Hi war, Take a look here "Do you know the world ?" -- Competition -- . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted March 21, 2018 Share #17662 Posted March 21, 2018 Now my thoughts move northwest to Guayaquil, someplace in that large bay/harbor, but I cannot remember seeing that monument.
war Posted March 21, 2018 Share #17663 Posted March 21, 2018 Not Ecuador. This city is further South where the average water temperature is about 27F colder than it is in Guayaquil.
stuny Posted March 22, 2018 Share #17664 Posted March 22, 2018 Chile is really long and skinny, and the water (other than at Termas) is quite cold. We've both been to Punta Arenas, and I suspect this is where we can find that monument, but I do not recall seeing it. Being so far south, the water temperature certainly fits. war Posted March 22, 2018 Share #17665 Posted March 22, 2018 It's in Punta Arenas for sure and if you were there before 2014 it wasn't. The monument commemorates the 1843 voyage of the Schooner Ancud to take claim to and found a settlement in the Strait of Magellan. Let's see your next one. stuny Posted March 23, 2018 Share #17666 Posted March 23, 2018 Thanks, Wally. It's been 6 years since we were last there, so no, the monument was not in place. Let's try this one: Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! pgk Posted March 23, 2018 Share #17667 Posted March 23, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Papua New Guinea?
stuny Posted March 23, 2018 Share #17668 Posted March 23, 2018 Well, that didn't take long. BTW: You don't need a dry suit here, and the diving is terrific. Your turn. This is actually a small island off the coast of the PNG mainland. Our dive boat plied the waters from New Britain to Tufi, often probably being the first to dive those sites. We were welcomed at this island, and the people put on a superb sing-sing for us - hence the costumes.
pgk Posted March 23, 2018 Share #17669 Posted March 23, 2018 Thanks Stuart. My wife worked in what was known as Irian Jaya (West Papua) as it happens. Now for my pic - the location and ship please (and yes I've blurred the name and number out but it shouldn't be too hard even so)! Welcome, dear visitor! war Posted March 24, 2018 Share #17670 Posted March 24, 2018 That's the "pirate ship" Santa Maria, moored on my favorite football player's island. Perhaps someone can provide Cristiano Ronaldo's home town and post the next one.
