"Do you know the world ?" -- Competition --

Nope again.

I can give a couple of more hints:

Different continent from the Walt Disney Concert hall and this is the view from inside the museum. (and yea, this surface is stone\concrete)

Edit:

I'll give one more hint now; this museum is in the same city as a Leica store.

Thanks, Farhiz, though most of the credit belongs to the architects' design.

The image was taken from about ~75% of the way back through that main entrance of the building. As you walk back, you also are walking up a little bit.

The interior of the building really reminded me of some slot canyons I've been and seen in the American west.* (think of kodachrome basin, bryce, or zion national parks for example)  I shot it with that in mind, looking back toward the main entrance with my camera slightly tilted up, maybe 15-25 degrees? I honestly dont remember exactly. Could have been more, probably not less.  The far wall of the building is also glass so I had some gentle diffuse backlighting from the time of day that I was there.

So in essence the picture is looking at both the walls and the ceiling. If you goto the museum's gallery here it should be pretty clear from one of the photos what you're looking at. Such a fantastic building and an even more incredible museum. Highly recommend!

* I hear that the actual symbolism is to represent a "crack in time" where things or people have gotten lost.

edit: and I have a better resolution copy here if anyone would like to see it without all the horrible compression. Didnt want my flickr image to tip off the answer to quickly for the game.

Hello Wally,

The bridge looks 1920's ish or 1930's ish. But newer.

There have been some reconstructions of these types of bridges on & near the Lincoln Highway. The Lincoln Highway starts in Time Square, New York City. It then goes across the Country, including going thru Kearny, Nebraska*. Mostly it is called "Route 30". But it is also called some other numbers in some other parts of the Country. It ends up in Lincoln Park, San Francisco. Just past Lincoln Way. Lincoln Way is the street on the Southern side of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.

Could we be somewhere on or near the Lincoln Highway?

Best Regards,

Michael

* Kearny Nebraska is the mid-point of the Lincoln Highway.

Hi Michael. No not the Lincoln Highway or near the Lincoln Highway.

More interesting is that the bridge is actually a dam at the end of the North Shore Canal. The canal is an extension of the Chicago River and the intent of the dam is to keep water from flowing into Lake Michigan. There is a small harbor in front of this dam (one sailboat mast visible on the left) that unfortunately has to be opened occasionally to allow large accumulations of water after heavy rainfalls to empty into Lake Michigan.
