No I haven't been to that part of the world yet, looks like a lot of climbing.

Yes it is. Lago Quilotoa high in the Ecuadorian Andes is surrounded by snow capped active volcanoes. It's about two miles across and over 800 ft. deep. The last explosive eruption was about 800 years ago, but it still emits fumaroles and the emerald green water is very sulfurous.
