Hello Michael,

I am not aware of that legend. There is another legend, though: the castle was besieged in the early 15th century. The defenders were starving, yet managed to convince the attackers to go away by pretending they were having a banquet inside the castle - they even offered the attackers their last pork head, together with a barrel of wine.

The castle is set in a valley, unlike most other castles. There is a canyon leading away from it that has sandstone rocks, some with carved-out dwellings. The whole area is known for its sandstone rocks and pine forests, a kind of "Paradise" -- and that is giving you a hint (in fact it would give you a big hint if you knew my nationality, which is not Austrian...).

Best regards,

Martin

Hmmm...

Difficult. Not sure what I have that isn't either too obvious or too difficult.

I'll try this... I can give clues if it proves to be a bad choice...

No... Sorry. The moment I posted that I realised that would be the suggestion, but I didn't get time to edit it. I was checking to see if the location was midway between China and NZ so I could give a clever clue... (It's not, but that will help anyway).

I should have taken heed of an old teacher..."it never pays to try to be too clever".

Apologies. Misleading reply.

:)

Apologies anyway.

(I struggled on finding a suitable photo, too. Embarrassingly, SO many of my photos from around the world are simply too obvious, cliches really. If nothing else, this has taught me to be a little more imaginitive next time we are away somewhere).
