gsgary Posted September 2, 2012 Share #10625 Posted September 2, 2012 Inspired by a thread in the german forum I would like to start this here: Procedure is quite simple: - A picture is posted (I'll start on this) - Tell where this picture was taken - if you're right, post your picture Rules are: - no detail photos - try to select a photo which shows for example a landscape that could be recognized by others - you have to recognize the previous photo if you want to post yours - if nobody is able to recognize your photo you should maybe give us a hint Ok that's it....I hope you're interested in this.. I'll start quite easy: Don't know where it is but i do know your town is twinned with our town Chesterfield

NZDavid Posted September 3, 2012 Share #10628 Posted September 3, 2012 New York City from Central Park? Architecture looks like a mix of new and older mid C20 high-rise plus an earlier C19 neo-Gothic church.

M9reno Posted September 3, 2012 Share #10633 Posted September 3, 2012 I sense that some form of encouragement or clue is in order. Take a look at that masonry. Not your typical field boundary.

M9reno Posted September 4, 2012 Share #10635 Posted September 4, 2012 Thanks, Michael. No, far from there. But if you were thinking Inca empire, you are partly on the right track.
lumini Posted September 4, 2012 Share #10636 Posted September 4, 2012 It seems a bit too obvious, but Hadrian's Wall? Geoff
M9reno Posted September 4, 2012 Share #10637 Posted September 4, 2012 Obvious, but correct, or almost so. Would you (or anyone else) be able to say which particular structure or part of this Roman military zone? This is not the Wall itself.
Phil U Posted September 4, 2012 Share #10638 Posted September 4, 2012 It is one of the Fortresses, is it not? Is it Housesteads Fort?
M9reno Posted September 4, 2012 Share #10639 Posted September 4, 2012 Housesteads (Vercovicium) it is! The trio of walkers is progressing southwards towards the latrines on the southeastern corner of the fort. The large parking lot near the site is artfully concealed behind the trees in the background, with a path leading up. Part of the Roman vallum can be seen as ripples of earth between the slope and the trees. Over to you, Phil!
