Mauribix Posted March 23, 2011 Share #7162 Posted March 23, 2011 France? Maybe Saint Tropez or somewhere nearby...
geaibleu Posted March 23, 2011 Share #7163 Posted March 23, 2011 This could have been taken anywhere in the world, and let me venture Brasilia close to the embassies area as an example. I wish there were to be some significant characteristics that would increase the desire to know more about a place and thus have a learning function transmitted by interesting photographs. a.j.z Posted March 23, 2011 Share #7164 Posted March 23, 2011 I'll begin narrowing it down: Europe looking east. Right continent: this is a sunset France? Maybe Saint Tropez or somewhere nearby... not France but right "corner" of Europe This could have been taken anywhere in the world, and let me venture Brasilia close to the embassies area as an example.I wish there were to be some significant characteristics that would increase the desire to know more about a place and thus have a learning function transmitted by interesting photographs. Well it is one of the pictures that are quite easy to recognize when you have been there but difficult to google (it is easier than you may think though but I will comply with your request for an interesting photograph from the area later if nobody has a clue)

thighslapper Posted March 24, 2011 Share #7177 Posted March 24, 2011 Congrats. You win a coconut...... There are saline springs here and the water is dripped down through these towers of brushwood (2km) and the airflow through and evaporation leaves salt in the middle. Originally actually to produce salt as the salt mines in the south were inaccessible... but latterly as part of a large spa complex where walking in the 'salty air' allegedly helps respiratory problems. All I recall was that it was absolutely freezing at the time and a recipe for catching pneumonia rather than curing it......... There are several smaller ones in Germany. Over to you Wattsy........ wattsy Posted March 25, 2011 Share #7178 Posted March 25, 2011 Over to you Wattsy........ Might be better to hand it over to Reiner (@bumac) for the next one. I'll need to dig through my slide archive to find anything half interesting and it'll be a few days before I have a chance. Besides, Reiner deserves the coconut for identifying the saline towers - I just did a spot of easy googling to find the right ones. Over to you Reiner.....
