The first clue was 'north of the Philippines' and Taiwan is directly north of the islands. Next clue was your location - Seattle/Taipei, which gave me another hint for Taiwan. I also checked your Smugmug gallery (incidentally - wonderful images!) and found some more Taiwanese photos. Rest was the power of Google with the right keywords..... Off to walk the dog and then to sleep - somewhat of a busy day tomorrow but, should be able to find something before Sunday evening.
