vertekijker Posted August 30, 2009 Share #2083 Posted August 30, 2009 You got it Reiner, the Japanese Imperial HQ during the war - that is why it was kept as a ruin after the A-bomb. The Meiji emperor stayed there for over 7 months during the war with China. Fascinating place to walk around in - I discovered it by chance. Your turn Reiner! ----------------- Frans Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! doubice Posted August 30, 2009 Share #2085 Posted August 30, 2009 This is a tricky one..... This particular Schmidt Metzgerei is in Chicago, on West Menomonee St.! Best, Jan
Guest suilvenman Posted August 31, 2009 Share #2086 Posted August 31, 2009 So that chap at the bottom right corner is not giving a Hitler salute as I first thought. Indeed, there seems to be quite a few Sullivan law firms in Chicago. Cheers, Ken.

doubice Posted August 31, 2009 Share #2088 Posted August 31, 2009 Jan: Tricky, but not for you. Go on. Thanks, Reiner. This time I did not have to refer to Google ot any other on-line help... I visited Chicago quite a few times when I used to live in Montréal. Back to rummaging through some slides and digital files......... Olsen Posted August 31, 2009 Share #2089 Posted August 31, 2009 Saltzkammergut, Saltzkammergut, ha, ha, ha! (Isn't it Siegesmundt we see wave his hand, there...?)
doubice Posted August 31, 2009 Share #2090 Posted August 31, 2009 Yes, very far from Salzkammergut.... Had I not bought some salami in this Chicago Metzgerei many years ago, I would have never guesses that it was in North America. Mind you - the traffic signs and type of sidewalk are not typical to Europe. Now - for the next challenge: Where are we? For extra points - where was the photo taken from? psquared Posted August 31, 2009 Share #2091 Posted August 31, 2009 How about a guess to start off? Northwest Pacific coast of North America? Perhaps near your city of Vancouver?
doubice Posted August 31, 2009 Share #2092 Posted August 31, 2009 How about a guess to start off? Northwest Pacific coast of North America? Perhaps near your city of Vancouver? Good guess, Peter. Keep them coming! Best, Jan

Keep them coming! Atlantic coastline? Cheers, Ken. Ken, Peter's guess was indeed a good one! The Northwest Pacific coast, nor Vancouver are a part of the Atlantic Coastline.... doubice Posted September 1, 2009 Share #2097 Posted September 1, 2009 Maine, someplace north of Boothbay Harbor. Hello Stuart, Thanks for the guess but, the same answer given to Ken will apply here: Peter's guess was indeed a good one! The Northwest Pacific coast, nor Vancouver are a part of the Atlantic Coastline.... The locale is indeed NOT along the Eastern seaboard. doubice Posted September 1, 2009 Share #2099 Posted September 1, 2009 The Sunshine Coast, BC, Canada? Wild Guess - Neah Bay, Washington State stefan It is not Neah Bay (a beautiful place by-the-way), nor the Sunshine Coast (just as quaint). Interestingly, an (almost) equilateral triangle with Neah Bay and Sunshine Coast being at its two points, will have the actual location as its thid point........ Enough hints for now..... "Square Peter' is too much of a sleuth..... Good luck, Jan
