I forgot where this exactly was, can someone help me out with the title and function of this building? If you found the right country/region, I can help with my travel itinerary in 1987. Photo was taken with M4 and Summaron 35 on TriX (HC110 B).

The location on top of the hill, reminiscent of a tell, does not look like a Hittite site. But it might be an old village, perhaps built on top of ancient (Greek?) ruins. A number of ancient Greek cities were built in the Mediterranean coastal area, so that could be another guess. Because the place looks like a fortress, its name might contain “-kale”, “-cale”, “-kaleh”, “hisn” or something similar, derived from Arabic, like happens sometimes with Turkish toponyms. The highest building seems to have a cupola, and in Turkey that would likely be a mosque or an old Byzantine church or monastery.

If you don’t know the location precisely, perhaps you might give an indication in what general region you took the photo in order to narrow the search.

I was on travel from Bursa to the Taurus mountains, for a hike with a guide to the nomads living there, probably the western Taurus, perhaps the Central, but not the Eastern at least. I rented a motorcycle there and my contact sheets show a Karavanserai immediately beside three takes of this landscape. So I guess it could be a Han or Karavanserai. The other images on the contactsheet suggest it should be in Cappadocia somewhere. I’ll scan some adjacent  negatives

A needle in a haystack, excellent! :-) You have posted one of the very intriguing riddles in this thread.

Good idea to post some adjacent images. If you could include images of the last cities / villages before you took the photo above, the search could be even more narrowed, Bursa to the Taurus region is a long way.

Then comes the landscape with building on the hill. Then there are a lot of rocks like this:
