Not Lake Berryessa or in the Bishop Creek area. It's a much smaller alpine lake. It's closer to the only reservoir larger than Lake Berryessa in the state. Some would say if you can only do one hike in this area, you should take the trail along the creek that comes from this lake.

Luigi is correct. The lake is one of numerous lakes to the west of Redding. The most popular hiking trail in this region, named after the creek that drains this lake and well-known for the waterfalls and this lake, gets you to this lake and its somewhat larger and higher brother that drains into this lake.

Crystal Creek... Hedge Creek ... Mills Creek... Google Earth makes me desire to visit the area someday... I've just came back from 2 intensive mountain hiking weeks in Italy, and this could be a good reason to go somewhere else... (I had a quick look to Lassen Nat Park 30 years ago, and just from a panoramic Bus ... :o)

It was my first venture up in the Trinity Alps (CLUE!!! :D). Went backpacking with a group of 12 and 13 year old scouts up this creek. None of the ones Luigi mentioned. Alphabetically it comes before any of the ones that Luigi mentioned, and the name starts with a "C." Have I given it away yet. :)

Yes! Luigi wins a coffee. There is a Coffee Creek, and another team of older scouts from our troop actually explored that area.

The correct answer was the Lower Canyon Creek Lake. The peaks you see in the background are the Thompson Peak, the highest peak in the Trinity Alps at only 9,002 feet (less than 3,000 meters). The peak to the left is called Wedding Cake. I'm not sure why, as it doesn't resemble one.

Here's a view from the other side. The Upper Canyon Creek Lake is to the right and the Lower to the left.

Why not to go with another ALPINE lake ? Literally alpine, I mean... :)

The name is no matter - indeed it's un-named ... but maybe someone can recognize the Mountain Group in background (two pics from different positions - it's the same).

To the right on the first one it looks like "Le Break de Chambeyron" which is right at the French border but I am not used enough to the view on the Italian side so I could be completely off :).

Unfortunately not, Luigi, the answer was courtesy of good 'ol Google. Maybe one day, though, I hope.

I'll need to get scanning for the next one.

Cheers, Ken.
