a.j.z Posted February 20, 2019 Share #18530 Posted February 20, 2019 Dont' get confused by the building. It looks like Europe, but geographically it is not (although not far away and maybe with closer links to Europe than to its neighbours).

Dirk Van der Herten Posted February 21, 2019 Share #18534 Posted February 21, 2019 Thank you Stephan for this interesting riddle. The style of the domed building made me think at first of a Byzantine church, till I remembered I was there many years ago. For the next one, we're not looking for the name of a location, but for the name of a composer. This composer wrote a 14-part suite, one of them dedicated to the building in the photo. otto.f Posted February 21, 2019 Share #18535 Posted February 21, 2019 (edited) Iberia, Albéniz. Unfortunately this has 12 parts, but the scene reminds me of Spain. And sketches of spain from Miles Davis has 8 parts... Edited February 21, 2019 by otto.f
Dirk Van der Herten Posted February 21, 2019 Share #18536 Posted February 21, 2019 Guitar and Spain bring you well on your way to the solution. And once you get to the composer and the suite, which of the 14 parts refers to the building in the photo?
poli Posted February 22, 2019 Share #18537 Posted February 22, 2019 I might be wrong but it makes me think of Recuerdos de la Alhambra by Francisco Tárrega.

That would be a surprise for me, because I don’t see an Alhambra in this wall and no landscape that reminds me of Granada either. I rather associate it with Toledo, or something else around Madrid Edited February 22, 2019 by otto.f
Dirk Van der Herten Posted February 22, 2019 Share #18539 Posted February 22, 2019 (edited) No, as Otto pointed out, it’s not the Alhambra. And Recuerdos de la Alhambra is not a suite, although the composer we’re looking for, is at least as well-known as Tarrega for those who love or play classical Spanish guitar. Part XII of the suite gives us the name of the building. The building is about 375 km. east of Madrid.
