Robert M Poole Posted April 30, 2017 Share #16962 Posted April 30, 2017 Is it perhaps some historic manufacturing site? In any case, a clue would be helpful... Although the region we are in is (was) famous for manufacturing this building is a country house Hall built for a local bigwig. www.robertpoolephotography.com
Robert M Poole Posted May 4, 2017 Share #16963 Posted May 4, 2017 OK a clue... the Hall is located in the North of England.
larsv Posted May 4, 2017 Share #16964 Posted May 4, 2017 Near Northampton?
Robert M Poole Posted May 4, 2017 Share #16965 Posted May 4, 2017 Near Northampton? No, as I said North of England Watford Gap is generally taken as the point in which you leave the South. You're about 130 miles too far south.
Robert M Poole Posted May 8, 2017 Share #16966 Posted May 8, 2017 No one want to guess? It is in a Northern English city with an industrial past....

stefans4 Posted May 8, 2017 Share #16969 Posted May 8, 2017 Northern English (= north of Watford Gap) with industrial past... Let's see: Liverpool? Manchester? Leeds? Sheffield? Newcastle? Sunderland? (Kingston upon) Hull? ... just to name a few of the larger ones...

stefans4 Posted May 8, 2017 Share #16971 Posted May 8, 2017 Thank you... For narrowing it down: does the city we're looking for have a seaport? I'm guessing it doesn't, so we would have Manchester, Leeds, or Sheffield...?
Robert M Poole Posted May 8, 2017 Share #16972 Posted May 8, 2017 Thank you... For narrowing it down: does the city we're looking for have a seaport? I'm guessing it doesn't, so we would have Manchester, Leeds, or Sheffield...? No seaport though at one time ocean going ships did once make their way into the city. www.robertpoolephotography.com
stefans4 Posted May 8, 2017 Share #16973 Posted May 8, 2017 OK, thanks - I think this hint makes it absolutely clear which city... Although I still don't have the faintest idea which building this could be... I have nothing presentable at this time - so if anyone with pictures to show (!) wants to jump in and say the magic word please feel free to do so...
stefans4 Posted May 9, 2017 Share #16974 Posted May 9, 2017 If I'm not totally deluding myself the city in question should be Manchester - with the Manchester Ship Canal connecting it to Liverpool and the open sea. Nowadays, many (container) ships are too big for the canal so the port of Manchester does not seem to be handling overseas traffic anymore... Very interesting case of a seaport that was... but no longer is... Regardless, I cannot solve for the building. No idea...

Robert M Poole Posted May 9, 2017 Share #16978 Posted May 9, 2017 The Hall is in a park in Greater Manchester. www.robertpoolephotography.com
stefans4 Posted May 10, 2017 Share #16979 Posted May 10, 2017 The picture in #16976 is absolutely beautiful. Sadly, it doesn't seem to help much for our problem. I'm venturing a wild guess now: is this park (with the dilapidated building in question) somewhere along the line connecting Manchester and Bolton? Robert M Poole Posted May 10, 2017 Share #16980 Posted May 10, 2017 Another unhelpful photo here. The previous photo was of tramlines that run through the park. www.robertpoolephotography.com
