You are getting close, Otto, yes, Marrakesh again, I'm afraid :)

But the building is not known as a madrassa.

Another hint: the literal meaning of the Arab word used to designate such construction, is "corner" or "nook".

The word sometimes also refers to a Sufi lodge. Although this particular building in Marrakesh is not used by Sufis.

It was named after a famous holy man whose tomb it contains, and today it serves as the seat of a caritative foundation.

Hi Dirk. When I use English Arabic online dictionaries to translate 'corner' or 'nook', I get translations in Arabic script only, which I do not understand. わかりません! It sounds like a fascinating place - everything about Sufism I find hugely interesting. Is it the Zaouïa Sidi Bel Abbès? Who is the famous holy man?

You found it!

Sidi Bel Abbes is the holy man after who this zawiyya was named.

The zawiyya Sidi Bel Abbes takes care of medical care and distributes food and money to those in need.

Since a great number of Morrocans lives with a budget of just a few euro per day, it has many clients.

Over to you, Frans.

Thank you, Dirk, very interesting.

I'll dig something up to post - will be back soon.
