It is salt glazed stoneware :)

The picture is from the museum of pottery

Some of the manufacturers here have been making pottery for over 13 generations

They have a pottery festival here (even years) on alternate years shared with Soufflenheim (odd years)

The forest between them is the largest uninterrupted area of woodland in France.

No excuses now for not locating the town......

With the allusion to the pottery festival it has to be Betschdorf, but with all due respect this little place IS in Alsace (Elsass if you prefer).

Earlier indication to the effect that it was not in Alsace made it impossible to find.

Sorry..... but I was unaware of the German spelling ..... as it is France I would have expected the French spelling of Alsace.... not Elzsas... or Elsass for that matter which I assumed was some obscure wine producing village... of which there are hundreds in this area .....

Here in the UK we are incapable of speaking or recognising any other language apart from English as we have an education system that ignores the existence of the rest of Europe :o

OK Geaibleu and Otto can fight over who gets the next turn

So be it then! Thanks Otto.

Map reading is a necessity, albeit confusing at times, to get to know the world.

Where are we?

The forum's rules about pictures apply here as well. Only pictures taken with Leica cameras or lenses, please. geaibleu - I have removed your entry for this reason.

I think for this thread this rule spoils the game a little bit as a lot of us, who are rather new to Leica, will have older photos with interesting places but that were not made with Leica gear.

Well, I am speechless!

Indeed, it is taken from Google, but, to the best of my knowledge, these air photos have been taken by Leica lenses provided, unless I am mistaken, by Leica Geosystems, therefore respecting this thread rules.

It might take me some time before I am able to put my hands on either an identical map, or print a Google fac-simile and then rephotograph it using my own 60 f 2.8, or 100 f2.8 Leica lenses.

That, presumably would be acceptable.

In the mean time, please take another player.

Merry Xmas, folks, with a toast to the nitpickers!
