sunafan Posted January 7, 2012 Share #9361 Posted January 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Michael, good guess, but it is not the west coast...Frans, this photo was taken 10 years ago, when I lived close to this place. I actually do not remember whether this was the American flag (or anything else), but it could be :-).What a meant with the hint is the cabin that can be seen in the background.Unfortunately I am not at home the next days, so I will try to give some more hints in writing and with google's help (hope I do not breach any copyright here). This one is from Wikipedia; the person is very important for this area and also - as a European I think at least - for American history. His statue is in the area that were are trying to identify: Welcome, dear visitor! sunafan Posted January 7, 2012 Share #9366 Posted January 7, 2012 Hi Frans, Hi Dave,no, it's not G. Washington, the statue shows Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben, who joined G. Washington in the winter of 1777 in Valley Forge. Von Steuben established a training program for the soldiers of the American Revolution. I think the - more or less- famous drill in the American army can be traced back to his influence.Lutz
Dirk Van der Herten Posted January 7, 2012 Share #9367 Posted January 7, 2012 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thank you, Lutz, I've never been there, but your interesting clue led to general von Steuben. And then it became easy to deduct the location of your photograph. Our next location should be easier to find. Welcome, dear visitor!
