vertekijker Posted September 6, 2011 Share #8282 Posted September 6, 2011 The Cerne Abbas Giant in Dorset, then? I saw that one a long time ago. I thought that for reasons of 'modesty' you might not have picked it... ------------ Frans
wattsy Posted September 6, 2011 Share #8283 Posted September 6, 2011 I didn't. It's not in Dorset. Think of something more equine.

wattsy Posted September 6, 2011 Share #8286 Posted September 6, 2011 And there is also the Osmington White Horse monument in Dorset... Yes, the Osmington horse is one of the few chalk horses with a rider (I think George III?). There are loads around Southern England (esp. Wiltshire) - off the top of my head there is the famous Westbury horse, the one at Cherhill, also one near Pewsey - but Adli is correct that the one in question is the Uffington White Horse on the Berkshire Downs. You can see a view of it (Dragon Hill can also be seen in the middle distance on the left) in the attached snap off the same roll of film. Over to you Adli. Welcome, dear visitor! spylaw4 Posted September 7, 2011 Share #8295 Posted September 7, 2011 Perpignan?
adli Posted September 7, 2011 Share #8296 Posted September 7, 2011 Perpignan it is, but Ken have already indirectly answered.
stunsworth Posted September 7, 2011 Share #8297 Posted September 7, 2011 And the reason that Perpignan is famous for photographers is because of the annual "Visa Pour l'Image" festival - which happens to be on at the moment. The Cafe de la Poste is very near where the above photograph was taken, and judging by the numbers of photographers who spend time there, it has a very healthy spike in beer and wine sales in the first two weeks of September. Guest suilvenman Posted September 7, 2011 Share #8300 Posted September 7, 2011 Well, next move is up to Ken, but he might be busy drinking beer at Cafe de la Poste, an activity I enjoyed last year :-) Thanks, Adli, but just now I'm in New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup (and busy drinking beer at a Speight's Ale House) so I'll be happy for Brian to continue. Cheers, Ken.
