JanCderidder Posted August 13, 2011 Share #8041 Posted August 13, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) With the best will of the world I can't remember where exactly the carriage is, it was after all years ago that I visited it. It's onyl opened to the public a couple of days a year. Anyway all I know is that Mannerheim used it as his command post and as mentioned earlier he met Hitler there at some time, sorry all I know, well apart from the location which I know also but can't think of at this point in time :-)

Olsen Posted August 13, 2011 Share #8043 Posted August 13, 2011 Jan, You have won. The carriage is today at Mikkeli, Finland, the city where marshall Mannerheim had his headquarters during WWII. (- 'Don't mention the War!' Aber. Die Weltkrieg ist unsere kulturgemeinschaft, nicht?) What happened in this carriage? Do you know?
JanCderidder Posted August 13, 2011 Share #8044 Posted August 13, 2011 Olsen, other than a secret meeting with Htiler I wouldn't know what happened in the carriage.
Olsen Posted August 13, 2011 Share #8045 Posted August 13, 2011 Jan, Adolf Hitler attended marshall Mannerheim's 75 birthday in this carriage. Many myths circles around this meeting. Like that 'Hitler came without an invitation'. Which is not true. He was invited (according to Swedish intelligence who tapped the telephone conversation between Mannerheim and Hitler's adjutant, Linge). Another possible myth is that Mannerheim smoked cigars at the table 'to test Hitler'. There were made a secret sound recording of parts of the meeting in which Hitler performs one of his legendary monologues. Without any interruptions from Mannerheim other than polite pleasantries. The recorded Hitler table speach in this rail car to Mannerheim's honnor, is a excellent example of Hitler's 'speaching abilities'. Not only had Hitler the ability to spellbound the masses, but his ability to hypnotize people present in private conversations. Just listen: A picture of the meeting room in the railway car where Hitler and Mannerheim enjoyed a cup of coffee together. Hitler sat 'right there' on that sofa. Welcome, dear visitor!
