Prague's Ministry of Industry and Trade was indeed designed by Jan Letzel (among others), the same Czech architect who built Hiroshima's Industrial Promotion Hall - that is the 'interesting information' I was looking for.

So, the prize goes to Frans, with Ken being the unofficial winner who forfeits his win by reason of knowing too much and not willing admit to it....:p

Over to you, Frans.

Best,

Jan

Interesting, because on the website of the ministry (see the link in my post) they state: "The author of the plan for the construction of the palace of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Patent Office was Josef Fanta, a prominent Czech architect ...". Maybe you should advise them to correct this ;)

Andreas,

I understand that the building was designed by a group of architects led by Fanta, with Letzel providing some influence. I spent three weeks in Prague this March, visited the Ministry building and found that to indeed be the case. As Letzel spent most of his productive life outside of Czechoslovakia (or the Austro-Hungarian Empire...), not much credit is given to many his works in his homeland.

The interesting tidbit of information I was looking for was indeed the link between the two buildings - Prague's and Hiroshima's.

Best,

Jan

And that is how I understood it - the similar look of both buildings.
