Advertisement Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Hi Luf-RAR, Take a look here "Do you know the world ?" -- Competition --. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Matrouk Posted April 19, 2010 Share #4122 Posted April 19, 2010 Could it be Jules Verne?
Luf-RAR Posted April 19, 2010 Share #4123 Posted April 19, 2010 Not Jules Vernes. Our writer is not a frenchman. The keys to this puzzle are: a) The location of the statue The main character of the authors work Hope this helps. Roland.
Guest suilvenman Posted April 19, 2010 Share #4124 Posted April 19, 2010 Pure gut feeling - those passengers look as if they are French ( no hard evidence, I realise) so if not France - a coach trip to a neighbouring country? The landscape suggests a lower mountainous area. So maybe Spanish Pyrenees? (then, again, could be Alpine region?) The floodlight in the first photo would appear to point towards a building or monument? The statue's "attire" appears 20th century. Cheers, Ken. Luf-RAR Posted April 19, 2010 Share #4125 Posted April 19, 2010 Ken, Good guess for the crowd, yes they are all french but like Lucky Luke, a long way from home. This country has no borders with France but for now is also under the Eyjafjallajökull ashes. If you identifie the mountains you are done. Olsen Posted April 19, 2010 Share #4127 Posted April 19, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) If this statue is supposed to be Georges Simenon, actually a Belgian writer (writing in French), this could be in Epalinges, North of Lausanne, Switzerland. Or....?
Luf-RAR Posted April 19, 2010 Share #4128 Posted April 19, 2010 Not Norway, go east and south. Not Switzerland - don't we have a common border ? This writer's native tongue is english. Frans, have you broken your keyboard ? For Ken: end of XIX th century. The building you envision is a hotel. Don't forget that the 'character' is known by almost everybody. Certainly by all of you. Cheers, Roland.
