microview Posted February 9, 2009 Share #41 Posted February 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I stewed over the M7 vs. MP choice a bit when I was ready to buy and I went with the MP 0.72 in black paint. I have never regretted my choice. A consideration is that I like the MP rewind knob much better than the M7's angled crank. For street shooting, the MP's lack of the aperture priority mode is really not that much of an issue. Could not agree more! I so disliked the rewind on my M6 I soon changed it for the MP. Aperture priority on the M8 does make you lazy, though, for digital shooting! Start with a 50mm lens.
Advertisement Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Hi microview, Take a look here If you were to give advice to a newcomer.... I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Vlad Posted February 15, 2009 Author Share #42 Posted February 15, 2009 Well, as fate had it, I ran into a very nice 1990 M6 with 35/2 Summicron that I know call my own. Picked it up from a vendor at a local camera trade show. Little scuff marks, the glass is flawless... I am looking forward to strapping a film in and get shooting!! Be honest, do you consider $2000 a good price for the package?

Vlad Posted February 15, 2009 Author Share #44 Posted February 15, 2009 Depends what sort of dollars you're talking about! The Americaland type of Dollar, or "Greenback". Also, I shall add that the lens is German made. Not sure if that makes a difference.
