I have finally bit the bullet and purchased B&W processing equipment including a Durst M670 Enlarger and all the ancillary bits and pieces so I am now free from high street processing labs and C41 film. The C41 film results have been very good as has been the Ilford film I have had processed by the factory but I always felt that in order to fully experience the full Leica M thing I needed to do my own processing. It has been 30 years since I last had my hands in chemicals so I am pleased to have this forum to post the many queries I am liable to encounter. Please bear with me

Thanks Andy, but as I have mentioned in the past on this forum, I do not have the necessary technologies to download my images to a computer. Maybe I might send you a couple. I will also need to get the grey matter working again to work out what I need to do. I just might give you a shout if I get stuck

Well done! - with that M670 enlarger Kenneth, it's a good piece of kit, I have had one with a couple of EL Nikkors for a long time - but am embarrassed to say it has stood idle for about three years, while I tried the scanning and inkjet printing route ( but always souping my own b+w ). However, I made a new year resolution to start wet printing again, and intend to stick to it!.....but the enlarger stands on the bench in my garden workshop cum darkroom, and lately it's been a bit too cold for my old, arthritic legs! :D

Good luck! Dave.

Yes it has been particularly cold Ludwig. I am proposing to use my cellar which also suffers when we have a cold snap. I see you live in Kingston upon Hull. I know it well. My first wife came from Hedon. And I look forward to hearing how you get on in your garden shed and if your ever over this way give me a shout. I did meet up with another forum member at the Bradford Museum of Photography

Just three month ago I received an Durst M601 with CLS66 color-head to re-start wet-printing after some 25 years ... :) (used to wet-print in my high-school where I had set up a dark-room together with one of my teachers and a friend during our summer vacations) So far I have developed BW and C41 films myself and then scanned and printed using an Epson ink-jet printer.

All I can tell is that it is a lot of fun and looking at the prints (after having spent some hours in my makeshift darkroom) proves that it is worth the effort. I just need a cheap solution to measure the exposure (... printing test-stripes is not one of my favorites ...) and graduation.

Cheers,

Gabor

Hi Gabor

Yes you are quite right. Wet printing is about as much fun as you can have with your cloths on and it is good to be back. Is it me or is there a wet processing epidemic happening? I hope so. I loved your Flikr indoor band pictures with a Noctilux lens by the way

I hope you have lots of fun with the printing again. I've been back in the darkroom for a couple of years and I love every minute. Just think, you can now build-up a nice box of prints instead of filling up a computer's hard-drive.

PETE.

Hi Kenneth,

thanks for the kind words about the band shots ! :) What started as a one-time shot of a gig became a long-term project ... Now I shot nearly all of their life events here in my town where I live.

About wet processing ... I too think that there is some kind of epidemic happening. People, I would have never thought that they even use a film camera start asking me about self-developing. Me thinks to many got tired of the mega-pixel / gigabyte-RAM race ...

Cheers,

Gabor
