MattLain Posted January 24, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi everyone, My M4-P just got knocked to the floor, no more than a foot drop. It must have landed on the back (film door down) because the little plastic tab that folds across the film advance lever has shattered into a few pieces. I've unscrewed what little was left on the lever and its still perfectly useable, I actually quite like it bare (aside from the screw hole). Just out of curiosity though, can anyone recommend where I might be able to find a replacement? Im unsure if the guys at Luton Repairs would have something so trivial. Or has there been one fashioned from something more reliable than plastic? Cheers, Matt.

Philippe D. Posted January 24, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 24, 2009 Hi Matt, Let's hope your camera doesn't have any further damages. I have changed for the MP lever on my M4-P and M6. All metal, no moving parts. Best for me.

Ask to your Leica dealer first, they have some as spare parts, anyway Leica Solms have them. your Leica dealer can order to them.

earleygallery Posted January 25, 2009 Share #5 Posted January 25, 2009 You could instead fit the solid M2/3/P advance lever, I much prefer it to the two part lever.

Yes I'd prefer that as an alternative, I just hope getting hold of a spare one from a dealer isn't as hard as finding one on the internet, and preferably not too costly. Guest maddoc2003jp Posted January 26, 2009 Share #7 Posted January 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) You could ask Don from DAG. I bought two advance levers from him, an M3-style and an original M4, some time ago. They were both around $50 plus shipping.
