pem Posted January 24, 2009 Share #1  Posted January 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) It seems that the M8 has some trouble to read some SD cards. Sometimes, the "Full card" message appears whereas the card is not full.  It would be interesting to have a list of cards which never caused any trouble.  I suggest to start a list that I will update accordingly to your messages (you can also contact me by private message). Each time someone tells me that he/she had some problems, I will classify the corresponding card in the "problem" category.  Suggested format: M8 or M8.2, firmware version, brand, SDHC or SD, speed, capacity : problem or no problem  * M8 - FW 2.002 - Sandisk Ultra II SDHC 8 GB: problem * M8 - FW 2.002 - Transcend SD (x150) 2 GB: no problem * M8.2 - FW 2.002 - Sandisk Extreme III SDHC 8 GB: no problem * M8 - FW 2.002 - Lexar Professional SDHC 8GB: no problem.   thanks for your contribution Pem

Steve Ash Posted January 24, 2009 Share #2  Posted January 24, 2009 M8.2 - Firmware 2.002 - Sandisk Extreme III SDHC 8 GB: no problem  I only encountered a problem after I pulled the card reader out of the USB port without prior software release via the "safely remove hardware" icon. I suspect that the file allocation table got spoiled that way. Problem was solved by formating the card and never showed up again.  Thus it might be that some problems with SD(HC) cards are related to bad handling.  Regards Steve

zeitz Posted January 24, 2009 Share #4 Â Posted January 24, 2009 I think you should do this the other way. What cards have caused problems? I've used so many different cards, including really cheap cards from Office Depot that I don't think it possible to list all the cards that work. The group may be limited to 4 GB SD (not HC) cards. Also the SDHC format is better controlled than SD. It may be hard to find an SDHC card that doesn't work.
ho_co Posted January 24, 2009 Share #5 Â Posted January 24, 2009 Pem--Great idea! Thanks for the undertaking! Â Remember that Leica already publishes a list of cards that they have tested and approved. Â Of course, there are more of us and we'll make faster progress. But then, all cards are good until one day they're not. epand56 Posted January 24, 2009 Share #7 Â Posted January 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm using an 8Gb Sandisk Ultra II Plus USB that is an astounding card, very quick and need no reader to download pictures to the computer. You just have to fold the card in two and plug it into the USB slot of the computer. Wonderful.
