Leicavit or not???

I like the leicavit as a mechanical gear and was invented when the LTM bodies did not have a lever wind. (SCNOO & next SYOOM)

The last model for M bodies are revival of them and usuable for user wearing spectacles.

But the motor M is the best way to go including the handle (battery housing) that is very ergonomic, and, as Rolo said, you can concentrate on your subject and shoot in every position of the camera.

Hey Robert, nice looking machine. I wish I could try one out on my MP, I use a motor but I'm not a fan of batteries.

 

That was a RapidWinder mounted to the M3. I have tried the Motor M on it too, but I thought the Rapidwinder was a little more gentle on my baby.

In what way do you feel it is better? I have not used the Rapidwinder, but own a Leicavit. The Rapidwinder is larger and heavier, but I have no experience of its operation and am curious about that.

I've used both and still have two Rapidwinders and two Leicavits (don't ask). My personal preference is for the Leicavit, it is lighter and I can use an Arca-Swiss QR plate with it, although I cannot use the Rapidgrip on the Leicavit. The Rapidwinder is probably sturdier, but I don't trust the bottom lock which is much simpler in design than the Leicavit's - it can seem to be a bit loose at times. I have never had a Rapidwinder come off the camera though. Also I cannot use the Arca-Swiss QR plate with it.

 

Tom Abrahamsson is a gentleman and warranties his products for life whether you are the first ownder or not. I'm an enthusiastic user of his Rapidgrip, which is a marvellous product.
