firoze Posted January 29, 2009 Share #21 Posted January 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) The voucher I have with my kit is for a small case that will hold 2 sd cards and a spare battery once you register the camera. Glenn Has anyone got this case for spare battery/SD card yet? To those of you who have purchased the DL4 Titan outside the US, did you also get a voucher for such a case? To those of you who have purchased the DL4 Titan outside the US, did you also get a voucher for such a case? I have it for the regular edition D-Lux 4. In fact, I've received these cases for almost every compact digital Leica I've ever bought. There's not much to it -- a tiny leather folder with a magnetized closure. If I had to guess, I'd say it's about 4 x 6 cm in size. I can take a pic of it tonight and post if no one beats me to it. Jeff.

I would really like a voucher for a case! I remember reading somewhere on this forum that in Europe, Leica customers get a choice of a case where in US/Canada, we get the rebate. I could be wrong.. Jeannie, Can't speak for the titanium version (congrats, by the way!), but for the regular version of the camera, and for most/all Leica compacts I've purchased the past few years, Leica USA includes a "registration card" in the box that gets you the card/battery wallet if you send it in within 30 days of purchase. It's just a postcard asking for basic information --- name, address, serial number, date of purchase, etc. Since Canada is serviced by Leica USA, I would think you would get this card and be eligible for the promotion. But since the card is mailed to Leica USA (New Jersey), it probably isn't a promotion active in the UK, EU, or other parts of the world. Jeff. miami91 Posted January 30, 2009 Share #27 Posted January 30, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Thanks Jeff, would appreciate that. Here are a couple of snaps of the two battery/sd card cases I currently have. Both were obtained from Leica USA by sending in a registration card, and I've had a couple of others in the past (they seem to like this promotion). They are more or less the same, with one having an embossed Leica wordmark, and the other having a metal Leica ball logo. They are leather, with a felt-like lining on the inside with slits for the SD cards and a mesh pocket for the battery. However, lest anyone think they are really fancy, the leather and craftsmanship are decidedly "made in China", not Luigi-like. Jeff. Welcome, dear visitor! Those cases are useful to have, they look quite classy, even if not of the highest quality. In fact I've been I've been looking for something smart like this... Has anyone here bought a D-Lux 4 Titan outside the US/Canada? Would like to know if there was a voucher for the same in their package also... miami91 Posted January 30, 2009 Share #32 Posted January 30, 2009 Jeff, Thanks very much for posting those pics. Those cases are useful to have, they look quite classy, even if not of the highest quality. Yes, they are decent quality --- I really shouldn't have wrote that "made in China" crack (although I do recall there being a "made in China" sticker on them). Especially for something that's free, they are perfectly decent. You know how it is ---- you buy anything from Luigi, and you're spoiled for life. Anyone who doesn't know about Luigi Crescenzi and his wonderful and expansive line of cases and straps for Leica cameras, including the D-Lux 4, should do themselves a favor and check out his website. The website is a bit chaotic, but don't be put off by this. The products are amazing --- hand made of the finest leather, stainless steel, etc. And Luigi is a true gentleman and very pleasant to deal with. nickjj Posted March 7, 2009 Share #36 Posted March 7, 2009 I find that using just the bottom half of the titan case, as shown in the pic three posts above, turns it into a very practical method of providing protection for the bottom and sides of the camera, while at the same time provding a useful, high quality leather strap. The only other addition is a screen protector and then, combined with the lens cap, I have a relatively protected camera which can still spring into action at very short notice. The additional bulk provided by the case also fills my right hand when holding it, thus somewhat obviating the need for a separate grip. Works for me anyway. I have only had the D-Lux 4 Titan for a week and I like it, although its clearly inferior to my M8, 50 cron and neoprene case, which itself makes for a compact instrument and you get so much shallower areas of focus when wide open. Still, the titan should be good for places I would be nervous taking the M8 to, like the beach and for those situations when I just cant be bothered to focus. I'm thinking M8 for only RAW and D-Lux 4 for only jpegs/casual photography, the quality of which will still be pretty good for those times when I get lucky with a good shot.
