dugby Posted October 19, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Previously there was a discussion on using some prime R lenses with an appropriate coupling adapter onto an M8. Would a Leica R Vario Elmar, either 35-70mm or 28-90mm work on an M8? I understand they would not couple to the frame lines. But could the rear LCD monitor display be used to work with the Vario lens for focussing and framing, rather than using the optical viewfinder. I have been a rangefinder user for 35 years, so I don't need any lectures/banter on the 'spirit' of using rangefinders with prime lenses.
Advertisement Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Hi dugby, Take a look here Vario R lenses with an adapter on M8 ?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted October 19, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2006 The LCD on the M8 is not live-preview so it would be a case of trial and error for both focussing and framing.

karmadragon Posted October 22, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 22, 2006 1 Adapter R to M can indirect focus( made in japan, you focus first then set the lens distance) You also need an adjustable frame for composition( Leica used to made one) Not very easy but work! Enjoy! Morgan
