Paul Gruyters Posted October 19, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I ask with some trepedation, as I am new to this, your thoughts on the V Lux 1? I will mainly shoot daylight and need the abilty to take action and zoom fast. It seems like a good option. Will it give me, with experience, the capability to produce newspaper quality shots. rob_x2004 Posted October 19, 2006 Share #3 Posted October 19, 2006 Hey Imants...Great news, mani is back. But....we dont know yet whether he has a V1 so watch it! :D
rob_x2004 Posted October 19, 2006 Share #4 Posted October 19, 2006 Sorry Paul I don't have one. I know what I reckon but I will keep that to myself. Though I s'pose you could get good quality shots of your newspaper by laying it out on the floor and using a low ISO.... Eh.... No I don't have one. Better wait or go to the Panasonic site and ask about the camera there.
Guest stnami Posted October 19, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 19, 2006 Rob it wasn't the sound of someone rustling the newspaper looking at the page 3 girl, it is M8 'noise' that stressing out mani I hear

Paul Gruyters Posted October 19, 2006 Author Share #9 Posted October 19, 2006 Thanks that was hepful. I'm still worried about the capabilities of this camera's sensor for publishing purposes. As I mentioned previously, newspaper quality ie B/W, NOT magazine colour.
rob_x2004 Posted October 19, 2006 Share #10 Posted October 19, 2006 Sorry Paul, half of that was in banter with Imants. I know plenty about the camera and you can work it out too. Or you should be able to.
Guest stnami Posted October 19, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 19, 2006 ... unfortunately all these panaleica babes are noisy from 400>..... For newsprint those old Nikon D100 are still a good workhorse ..... cheap
fotografr Posted October 19, 2006 Share #12 Posted October 19, 2006 Here's a PERFORMANCE PROOF from Leica's own site. You can view the full size file there. I'd say for newspaper work, mainly daylight shooting, this camera would work fine. Higher ISO would be a problem unless converting to b&w, which would remove the noise. cboudier Posted October 19, 2006 Share #13 Posted October 19, 2006 Imant & Brent, For B&W, I'm not sure (color) noise is a real issue, do you ? (my experience with the LC1 tend to prove this) But noise reduction may be an issue (even in B&W) because of the artifacts
