psamson Posted January 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've been monitoring the discussions on Silver Efex Pro, decided to jump in, and noticed that Nik Software offers a Complete Collection: - Dfine 2.0 - Viveza - Color Efex Pro 3.0 - Silver Efex Pro - Sharpener Pro 3.0 Silver Efex Pro lists for US $200 and the Complete Collection lists for US $300. I thought it was a good price for all five plug-ins for Aperture. I purchased the Complete Collection and will post a few results once I become more proficient with the plug-ins. Advertisement Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Hi psamson, Take a look here Nik Software's Complete Collection for Mac / Aperture. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted January 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2009 I think they have a couple of versions of some of there software. Like Color Efex comes with either X number of filters or Z number. The X # being cheaper and limited and the Z # including all the filters. The package with ALL the filters for ALL the plugins is more like $500-$600. Hope to see your run down of all the plugins. RockyIII Posted April 12, 2009 Share #3 Posted April 12, 2009 NAPP members can get a 10% discount on Nik Software. I am thinking about buying the Complete Collection to use with CS4. Rocky

Rocky I made the plunge and am pretty happy so far. Already used Sharpener Pro which needed a costly update, really wanted Silver Efex. Surprisingly use Viveza a lot and really like it's power. Surprisingly use Viveza a lot and really like it's power. Do you use Viveza more than Color Efex Pro? Are there any of the modules that you do not use? I am wondering how often I would use Dfine, but the bundled price for five modules is less than buying four modules individually. Rocky
ShivaYash Posted April 25, 2009 Share #6 Posted April 25, 2009 How does Nik's software update? I assume updates will not show up under 'Software Update'? Thanks,
andybarton Posted June 3, 2009 Share #7 Posted June 3, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Only Apple software shows up under Software Update I have been playing with Viveza while laid up this week. It's really very clever indeed. I think I might put my hand in my pocket later.
Shootist Posted June 3, 2009 Share #8 Posted June 3, 2009 How does Nik's software update? I assume updates will not show up under 'Software Update'? Thanks, Where are you seeing this "Software Updates"? Inside Aperture or in the plugin interface. If in Aperture I don't think that would work for updating any make/type of plugin. Normally NIK's will send out a email about updates to the people that have paid for the software. At least that is the way it's worked for me, a PC guy. Normally NIK's will send out a email about updates to the people that have paid for the software. At least that is the way it's worked for me, a PC guy. Software Update is a Mac System app which runs off and checks the Apple servers at a user defined interval and has a look for any new versions of any Apple software installed on the Mac. It does not work with 3rd Party software (unfortunately - maybe with Snow Leopard...). So, if there's an update to Aperture itself, Software Update will let you know, and install it for you (when you have said "Yes"), but it won't check for plug-ins. Many softwares will run off themselves and check for updates. Alien Skin is an example, as is Photoshop.
MEB Posted June 3, 2009 Share #11 Posted June 3, 2009 I have had Silver Efex Pro for a while and I love it. I subsequently purchased the remaining programs (the company gave me a reduced price for the programs that equated to the original package price....thank you very much). I use the programs in Photo Shop CS4 and Lightroom. I am delighted with all of the programs in the grouping. They are very easy to use (almost instinctive) and they are very powerful. I recommend the Nik software to anyone who likes to play with digital post processing. The package is expensive but it is a very powerful addition to our ability to refine digital images. ceflynn Posted June 3, 2009 Share #12 Posted June 3, 2009 On the Macintosh platform, many applications, from Booxter to TechTool Pro, now support Sparkle, which provides a means of updating a running application that has the look and feel of Apple's own Software Update. ptarmigan Posted June 8, 2009 Share #13 Posted June 8, 2009 Great to see yet again that we're being ripped off in the UK Nik full package cost - $599 (in the US) = €599 (in Europe) - I don't think so! Also I see Adobe have raised their prices (CS4) for the UK again and are adding 21.5% VAT! Nice little touch to add another £9 for the download version. Nice.............
