MrEd Posted January 20, 2009 Share #61 Posted January 20, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I noticed that almost all comments given on pictures are very positive some standard positive remarks: nice dof nice colors nice composition nice crisp nice topic can we please be a bit more critical, not everything shot with a Leica is a great shot. We sometime fail to see that a picture is just nice for the family album or just messed up or just not right Can we please comment with the same quality as our gear Great post, I like it. Thanks for sharing. Ed. . .

azzo Posted January 24, 2009 Share #66 Posted January 24, 2009 We have the Barnack Challenge, for those using LTM cameras and bodies every month, or so, and every year we have the One Challenge, of course. There is even a prize for that one! Perhaps we could organise more "challenges" this year. One month specifically for film Ms/Rs, one month for M8 users, one month for small digitals, and so on. We should try and get this (more "challenges") going, at least for a trial to see how it goes. IMHO, it should make things more interesting.
dennersten Posted January 24, 2009 Share #67 Posted January 24, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I agree -- but constructive and civilised criticism should be our watchwords... Let's set ourselves a standard for intelligent discussion and critique of pictures that we can be proud of! cheers I totally agre. I were active at the leica user group (LUG) for a year or two. People there are extremly good at constructive critisism. Tough, fair, civilized and intelligent. It made me grow very much as a photographer. It's absolutely the best way. Came here two years ago simply because i couldn't handle the big flow of messages at LUG. Tried to publish some photos, but never got any critisism. I guess when people didn't think it was good, it were just 5 - 10 "great picture" etc. When they thought it was good, there were 30 - 50 "great picture" posts. I don't need more taps on my back. I want/need qualified picture discussions. So i got bored, haven't posted anything past 6 months.
JHAG Posted January 24, 2009 Share #68 Posted January 24, 2009 I agree. I posted some pics on Photo SIG in the US, to give it a try. Mostly, comments there come from very conservative photog, who like what we call "léché" in French, id est very boring pictures technically mastered - and many nude pictures among them, on a sub-par Pirelli catalogue mode. Plus comments are often rogue and dull. But, the 10% comments which were worth it were really worth it.
