The hint of sunlight on the mountainside is lovely as is the detectable amount of snow on those peaks. I'd walk there with our dogs tomorrow - you're a lucky chap. I can see your point about brightening up the pic, but to my taste the rather gloomy feel is part of the mood and your version is just a little too colourful.
