R to MFT's

Currently the way to attach an R is via the Leica R adapter to the 4/3's Leitz fashioned for the D3.

But look at all the mounts on the way!! Leica M? Leica R? Minolta MD? Nikon F? Olympus OM? Pentax K? Canon FD? Has any new system had so many optics options presented within a month after its unveiling????? Unreal!

Hi Peter,

You may already realize this but it is the short register of MFT that allows it to work with so many different lens systems. It isn't possible with many other cameras because of the register issue.

Cheers,

Sean

There are three ways to fit a Leica R lens to M4/3:

1. Panasonic DMW-MA1 adapter with a Leica R to 4/3 adapter

2. Novoflex Leica R to M4/3 adapter (shipping next year)

3. Convert the Leica R bayonet to Nikon and use a Nikon to 4/3 adapter along with the DMW-MA1. (Alternatively convert to Pentax or Contax.)

In my case I'm going route #3 because I already have a Nikon to 4/3 adapter and because this will mean I can use Leica R on both my D700 and G1.
