Overgaard Posted October 15, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 15, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I handled the D3 today and I was very impressed with how it feels to hold. It's bulky (also the body) but very easy to hold and operate. The RAW series is fast and the shutter sound nice and effective. I came to see the M8 and V-Lux as I had totally written off the D3. But I might reconsider the D3. It's a nice and seminpro camera. It's not a M in size or handling. It's a SLR and as I use R8 with motor daily I can understand how a 'large' camera can be handy. It has what I miss with the D2 which is the physical preview through the viewfinder. So for me it's a D2 with that - as well as the future posibility to use other lenses than one. Advertisement Posted October 15, 2006 Posted October 15, 2006 Hi Overgaard, Take a look here Todays D3 experience. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
palmskov Posted October 15, 2006 Share #2 Posted October 15, 2006 Sounds like there's something good to wait for. Was the D3 like the D2 sizewise? Where did this take place by the way; Aarhus?
Overgaard Posted October 15, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted October 15, 2006 It was a fair in Aaarhus. Guess if you go knocking on Leica DK's door monday they can show you monday. Either they keeep it there or send if off to Solms or somewhere tuesdag. The body size is slightly bigger, feels a bit heavier (nicer) and also has the grip for the hand on the front. More buttons, better quality, the lens is bigger as we all know but ... well, it suits the camera more gently than I would have expected from the pictures and gossip. palmskov Posted October 16, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 16, 2006 I just a chance to see and hold the new D3 and must say I'm really disappointed. Too big, clumpsy and what's the live view for? Who's using the lcd anyway besides for checking the photos? So in my case it's definately the M8; Had a chance to hold it, shoot with it and it all seemed to work very well...
