scott kirkpatrick Posted December 21, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 21, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) There are more detailed specs now on the Leica website. One thing that puzzled me is that each of the first four CS lenses delivered, which have shutters in the lens to provide high flash synch speeds are described as having "focal plane shutters". I was expecting a leaf shutter, so that the whole image is uncovered when the flash is fired. Does anyone know if this is just a mis-translation from the German? scott
Advertisement Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Hi scott kirkpatrick, Take a look here CS lenses with focal plane shutter?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Bernd Banken Posted December 21, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 21, 2008 Hi Scott, you are right. All lenses indicating "CS" have a central shutter directly build in the lens barrel. The body has an additional focal plane shutter as any SLR camera. Leica and their print work including translation is something "special"..... Another funny translation is the word "background" describing a lens design with a kind of floating back-elements to achieve a closer focus distance. In the German prints of Photokina they describe a f2,5 35mm Summarit ASPH -it seems that the old 4-eyes check before artwork production has been given up...... Cheers Bernd
