JBA Posted December 18, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 18, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can anybody recommend a hand-held meter for low light shooting? I was thinking of getting the Sekonic Studio Deluxe III, but it only goes down to EV 4. I'd like something that goes much lower.

kodaktrix Posted December 18, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 18, 2008 I guess it must be about 25 years old, You can find it sometimes on ebay. It is the most sensitive commercial lightmeter ever built. Regards Oliver

JBA Posted December 19, 2008 Author Share #9 Posted December 19, 2008 I've looked into the Digisix and am fairly familiar with its features and advantages, one being that it can be mounted on an accesory shoe. Eventually, I may end up getting one, but the Minolta Auto Meter II is exactly what I had in mind. By the way, does anybody know off hand what the lowest EV ratings are for the M6 and MP built-in meters?

kodaktrix Posted December 19, 2008 Share #12 Posted December 19, 2008 Have a look here for the manual of the autometer II: http://www.cameramanuals.org/minolta_pdf/minolta_auto_meter_ii.pdf Another advantage for me is that it works with a 6V battery, one is not dependent on using adapters or px625 mercury cells as with other lightmeters of that time. kodaktrix Posted December 20, 2008 Share #13 Posted December 20, 2008 There is another option, the Gossen Profisix which meters down to -8EV too, it uses a 9V standard battery. Regards Oliver
Finnkare Posted December 21, 2008 Share #14 Posted December 21, 2008 The toy-looking Calcu-light and Calcu-light XP have been praised. About the former I'm not sure but at least the latter goes to -7. Quantum Calcu-Light XP

JBA Posted December 28, 2008 Author Share #17 Posted December 28, 2008 The Minolta Auto Meter II arrived today. It was my Christmas present from my brother and sister. It came from this Ebay seller, whom I can, without hesitation, recommend for any similar purchases as my way of leaving positive feedback. eBay Store - Meter Maven Camera Shop: Rolleiflex TLR Cameras, Gossen Meters, Rolleiflex Camera Accessories You can look forward to some interesting Tokyo nightscapes in the coming year.
