Unfortunately I've had to replace my computer with a new one which runs Windows Vista. My problem is I can't get the new computer to recognise my Minolta 5400 scanner. Has anyone run into this problem and if so, how did you solve it?

Thanks for all replies.

Thanks for the replies. I've got SilverFast, but it won't recognize the scanner. Yes, what I need is a driver which will work with the Minolta. I don't mind doing the VueScan thing, but really prefer SF over VS. I've put in a question to SF about this. I had always thought SF used it's own drivers also, but I guess that's wrong.

The Minolta was possibly discontinued before Vista was released. Try downloading the trial version of Vuescan to see if that works - VueScan Scanning Software - I think it can use it's own driver rather than the scanner's.

Huh... thanx Steve! It worked on my Vista 64 bit and my Nikon LS9000 / 5000. Now I don't need to switch to my XP hard-drive. I used my 2005 serial number and they still honor.

Steve, you hit the nail on the head! Vuescan solved everything, well everything except my rookie status with Vuescan. But I'm getting more familiar with every scan :D An added bonus is that my scans are now significantly faster. I'm now a convert from Silverfast.
