Leica_1980 Posted December 11, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I don't know much about Leica's or camera's for that matter. However, my Father is a Leica enthusiast (in fact is probably a member of this site, so I hope he doesn't catch on;) ). My budget isn't massive but I would like to get him something special. I found a 1937 first edition 'My Leica and I' hardback book for auction but with no reserve price so if anyone could tell me how much this is worth it would be greatly appreciated. Also any ideas for the man that has almost everything.... Thanks

jc_braconi Posted December 11, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2008 Hello, I have this book, it is a piece of history about some Leica's fans who shared their experience with Leitz material and processing technics in 1937. I will say nothing special to learn that can be usefull today. IMHO I 'ld ask to him if he will enjoy this gift. You will find on amazon.com a lot of books, if you are in England looks for Hove collectors books.
luigi bertolotti Posted December 11, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 11, 2008 Is a gift that can be appreciated only if your dad does extend his Leica passion also to vintage books: does he own others ? If not so, maybe it cannot be the RIGHT gift... but is difficult to give an advice on the topic... for instance one could better appreciate some old accessory (even not too costly... some filters, an old viewfinder...) he hasn't in his collection... but this would require knowing exactly what he has and hasn't.
