Neil Purling Posted December 8, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have just got my Leica III back from service, it still has its original shutter blinds. I think I know the date of the body, but what about the lens? Are there records which would enable me to date the 50mm f3.5 Elmar lens? The lens was obtained separately to the Leitz body: s/n 308433. Body s/n 275199. Are pre-war Leitz 90 & 135mm lenses especially rare?

lars_bergquist Posted December 8, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 8, 2008 The lens should be from 1936 (serial no:s 284601--345000) while the body is a Leica III from 1938 (batch numbers 274801--27500!) The old man from the Age In Question
Neil Purling Posted December 8, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted December 8, 2008 Well, the body and lens are about the same age. It's good enough for me. I'll have to see about a 135mm Hektor.........
