Guest Posto 6 Posted December 6, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 6, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) LEICA M4 BLACK BODY ONLY PARTS OR REPAIR Item number: 290280985261 Auction restricted to United States only, so unable to bid for it myself as overseas. Interestingly, the camera is currently at $150, and, according to the pictures supplied, seems in quite reasonable financial condition.

Actually meant to say cosmetic condition, not financial (been talking far too much about the market crisis today). I saw the water damage, but considering such M4-MOT cameras are quite rare and seem to fetch quite high prices, do not feel that any mechanical bits would be that prohibitive as part of a good mechanical restoration. Anyway, better be off to sleep before I get myself into further trouble...
earleygallery Posted December 6, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 6, 2008 Credit crunch?! We're all worried about our financial condition I guess. They don't say what kind of water damage. If it was sea water there will be problems with corrosion internally. If the rangefinder needs to be replaced, as well as the shutter and other parts, then it probably is prohibitive to repair, which is almost certainly why it's on e bay. If I had a bargepole I wouldn't touch it with it.
