Guest Ron (Netherlands) Posted December 6, 2008 Share #1 Posted December 6, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi on the great bay again there is the M3 as stated a pre production model. Wonder if anyone here as any additional info about these cameras. I guess the one offered is genuine. Some time ago the same camera got an end bidding of Euro 50.162,50 but didn't met the reserve (Euro 100.000?). The seller is trying again, but might regret not having sold it the first time when more bidders must have been in a better economic/financial position (btw I am not related to the Dutch? seller). andybarton Posted December 6, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 6, 2008 The frame counter is a work of art. What a shame that never made it to production.
echorec Posted December 6, 2008 Share #3 Posted December 6, 2008 Genuine. I agree with Andy, those early counters are really beautiful!
luigi bertolotti Posted December 6, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 6, 2008 I'm curios to see if it will be sold... the base price is high indeed, but no stratospheric as used to be some times ago, and the "00xx" pre-prod M3s are as almost desirable as the "1xx" 0 series Leica I. aauckland Posted December 6, 2008 Share #5 Posted December 6, 2008 It is clearly genuine, and has high value as a pre-production M, but, ..isn't a great shame to see a lovely camera brutally maintained, with so many burred screw tops, it obviously has not been serviced by an accredited Leica technician. echorec Posted December 7, 2008 Share #7 Posted December 7, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe a newbie question but what was the use of the punch-button on the back door? I understand that it would punch a hole through the film but why would you want to do that?

lars_bergquist Posted December 7, 2008 Share #9 Posted December 7, 2008 Maybe a newbie question but what was the use of the punch-button on the back door? I understand that it would punch a hole through the film but why would you want to do that? It was for marking a specific frame so you could identify it later in the darkroom.
