echorec Posted December 4, 2008 Share #2 Posted December 4, 2008 I´d say you will get around 20% less because of the engraving if you sell it on ebay.

jc_braconi Posted December 4, 2008 Share #4 Posted December 4, 2008 In the 50/60 lot of photo-reporters used to engrave their social security number or driving licence ones in case of stolen cameras or just to prevent this. (may be a famous one, who knows?) the less value can be different if the engraving was made with a nail or by a machine, you know.
wizard Posted December 5, 2008 Share #5 Posted December 5, 2008 any way possibility to erase this engraving?Best regards... If the engraving is on the flash socket, no problem, just have a new flash socket fitted, they should still be available. If the engraving is on the top cover, you would need a replacement cover, which would have to be engraved with the original numbers. Possible, but expensive. k_g_wolf ✝ Posted December 6, 2008 Share #7 Posted December 6, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Take it easy, even with the engraving your camera is able to produce splendid photos with your help. Erasing is impossible unless you have a technican applying a new chrome- plating or get a new topcover as already suggested. Could be a 6 - 800 US-Dollar- affair. Philippe D. Posted December 8, 2008 Share #12 Posted December 8, 2008 Hi, Yes..at right side of the two at rear... This is the place where the owners name are usually engraved, also on screw cameras. If it is machine engraving, this could give a bonus of say 25% for the sake of rarity.
