tommycrown Posted October 12, 2006 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am trying to find some good Leica dealers and can't seem to find any local shops that carry Leicas. Any of you know where I can get my hands on Vlux1 (pre-order)? I know certain places are not great to trust~~(i.e. beachcamera) Thanks in advance Tommy

tommycrown Posted October 12, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted October 12, 2006 Sorry, Mark I live in Dallas, TX, and I have already checked out my areas, but can't seem to locate any dealer that deals other than sport optics. I wonder if any of you order off of the internet merchant?! Tommy
marknorton Posted October 12, 2006 Share #5 Posted October 12, 2006 I guess it depends on whether you want to handle the product before buying in which case a dealer is a must-have. I'm surprised there's noone in Dallas. Otherwise you can buy from the likes of B&H and Adorama though they seem to be permanently on holiday at this time of year. I'd be surprised if there was much stock yet though.
miami91 Posted October 12, 2006 Share #6 Posted October 12, 2006 I and many others routinely order over the internet from the two big NYC dealers, B&H and Adorama. Adoroma has cheaper prices, but I have not found their customer service to be very good (usually haven't needed it, thankfully). Both have excellent selection. Another dealer I might recommend to you would be Precision Camera in Austin, TX. They have most everything available via their web site, and if you ever needed to follow-up in person, that's under a three hour drive, right? Jeff. abrewer Posted October 12, 2006 Share #7 Posted October 12, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Tommy, You've got one of the best Leica dealers in America right there in Highland Park: Cooter's Village Camera, in Highland Park Shopping Center corner of Mockingbird and Preston. Village Camera Last time I was in there they had two or three display counters full of the latest and greatest Leica merchandise...used and new. Ask for Fernando, or Mary. They're both Leica shooters. Then slip around the corner to lunch at Pacific Cafe: one of the few restaurants whose joys equal those of purchasing a new Leica! Thanks. nyrich Posted October 12, 2006 Share #8 Posted October 12, 2006 Nothing wrong with B&H or Adorama and I routinely buy everything non-Leica from both. However, for Leica, I find Tamarkin to provide more personal service. Here's their URL (even though it shows Fogg). Fogg Camera Bags I also find that Tamarkin grades used equipment more fairly than either B&H or Adorama. As all three are authorized Leica dealers, the prices of new equipment should be the same. tommycrown Posted October 12, 2006 Author Share #10 Posted October 12, 2006 Special thanks to all of you!!! Specially, I will try visiting the places Jeff and Allan have mantioned. Thank you for the restaurant tip, Allan. I will definitely check the place out! I would rather touch and feel the camera before I buy them~~ Tommy
pemayeux Posted October 12, 2006 Share #11 Posted October 12, 2006 I'm in Fort Worth and yes Village Camera is good. But when it comes to personalized service I think Ken Hansen in NYC is top notch. I've bought several Leicas and lenses from him. I'll be getting my M8 and Noctilux from him when he gets his shipment, which won't be any too soon. Andy, for that matter, nothing in Texas is within shouting distance of anything else in Texas! Traditional lament of drivers crossing the Lone Star State: "The sun has riz, the sun has set...and we're not out of Texas yet!" Thanks.
