mhoersch Posted November 27, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 27, 2008 Interesting read! Are you sure this is something like a product announcement, or is it just showing off some product piracy of the Leica bayonet mount?
cboudier Posted November 27, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted November 27, 2008 Are you sure this is something like a product announcement, or is it just showing off some product piracy of the Leica bayonet mount? This is NOT an official announcement at all !
ibogost Posted November 27, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 27, 2008 Even if a micro 4/3 to M adapter does reach the market, the G1 is of zero interest to me. It's just too bulky to bother with; I might as well take my M8 at that point. Now, the Olympus prototype had a lot more appeal, and perhaps I can imagine using an M adapter with one of the really tiny new M-mount Voigtlander pancake lenses... but then again, if there are native micro 4/3 optics of high quality and even greater portability, that will be very attractive. It's nice to know that it might be possible to use M lenses on the micro 4/3 format, but that's not really the exciting thing about the latter format. The exciting thing is another very compact larger-sensor offering to compete with the Sigma DP1/2.
leicageek Posted November 28, 2008 Share #6 Posted November 28, 2008 "I don't have a 520, but I do have both an M8 and Oly E3. I bought the G1 with the idea of using it as a backup for both the E3 and M8 (can use lenses from both). I have been so impressed by the handling and image quality (with the kit lens) of the G1 that so far the roles have been reversed and both the E3 and M8 have been relegated to backup status." Bo_Lorentzen Posted December 1, 2008 Share #7 Posted December 1, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) CameraQuest is bringing adapters. Adapters:* SLR to RF In did a little measuring and there IS room for a M lens in the G1. (just barely) a LTM lens would also fit easily. As for the G1. its a lovely camera. but with a significant problem, my girlfriend confiscated it on sight. her E520 is out of work.
