I know what you mean and I experienced it myself on various products.

 

However, this is not the case with Leica silver vs. black lenses! They are made by the same companies (mechanics are mostly from Weller), same productions facilities, same employees, same testing they're only produced in different numbers I can guarantee it 100%, you can ask employees, engineers or Mr. Kaufmann himself ;-)

But of course, all Leica-lenses are made in small numbers, hand-assembled and especially the focus/aperture mechanism is often calibrated to a certain "taste" of the employee who does it (although, they always have a reference lens at their working place) - but this has nothing to do with silver vs. black lenses!!!

 

Well, it's always difficult to destroy an urban myth... :-)
