Hello again,

I have just lost my 35mm Summicron tupperware-style cap for the second time in five years. While I admit this is MY fault, it appears the cap/hood design is not wholly compatible with me. I'm curious if anyone is using a second-party hood and cap. In particular, I'm looking at this one from Heavystar:

New Metal 39mm Vented Hood & Cap for Leica Summicron

The price is hard to argue with, which of course makes me suspicious. Anyone familiar with it?

Funnily enough (must be the season for it) this is also being discussed here: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/70152-effing-lens-cap-has-fallen-off.html together with some useful suggestions. I have a couple of Heavystar hoods and step rings and have found them prompt and courteous to deal with, and the products are robust and well-made. Buy with confidence.

Regards,

Bill

Twice in 5 years? You must be a Saint - I seem to lose mine every other time I take the thing out...:)
