Hello everyone, I am new to this forum but been reading this forum for a long time.

I just got my d-lux 4 this monday and since then keep taking pictures with it. I was struggling to buy either lx3 or d-lux 4 and people say different things about it. Leica user say d-lux 4 is the best and lx3 user say leica is not worth it.

I also own digilux 3 and I sold my D80 for it because the "look" of the photos I took are amazing. Therefor this time I went for d-lux4 and right after I got my hand on the camera, I knew my money is worth it.

The photos I took from d-lux4 is not as good as digilux3, however for a "point and shot" camera, this is going to be on me all the time.

Another thing is the HD video quality; I couldn't believe how good it is under low light conditions.

the attachments have one picture took by digilux 3 of my new d-lux 4 and the other is the other way around :p I did use lightroom to change the highlights and shadows.

Thank you, I took these two pictures from outside of my apartment. Not a great shot, but I think it's good enough to show the difference between the two camera.

the top one photo took by using digilux 3 and the bottom one took by using d-lux 4.

I will go to NYC this weekend and take more pictures to see the differences between the two.

Interesting, thank you. May I ask what Raw format the D-Lux 4 uses? Is it DNG or some proprietary format no converter suppports, except the camera manfufacturer's, à la LX-3?

Manfred,

It's a proprietary format (.rwl) that only Capture One 4 currently supports.

Pete.
