cfc247 Posted November 14, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, I ended up returning my D2 for a cleaner copy I picked up from another seller. Although the camera is much newer the lens hood and cap were misplaced. I wasn't sure where I was supposed to post this, since I am not selling but looking for someone in the forum who would like to sell a Digilux 2 lens hood/cap that they are not using. You can either send me a pm or email me at markjwon@gmail.com. Thanks. Mark
Advertisement Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Hi cfc247, Take a look here Anyone not using their Digilux 2 lens hood/cap?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stuny Posted November 14, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 14, 2008 Mark - It would be better to place an add in the buy/sell section of this site. If that doesn't turn up anything, then I'd try eBay.
wda Posted November 14, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 14, 2008 Mark, I am sorry that I cannot help you, but I do urge you to get a hood/cap for your D2. Just think, there must be a mint version gathering dust in the seller's domain.
cfc247 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Share #4 Posted November 14, 2008 Thanks for the comment and suggestion guys. David, the buy/sell section seems to be devoted to sellers. I could not find a "wanted" section for buyers. Please refer me to the link if you know. Thank you. As of now there is nothing on ebay. I did call Leica and they sell the two for $90. I would like to see if I could find a used one for much less though. Mark
brucek Posted November 14, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 14, 2008 Just a thought, but did Panasonic provide the same kind of hood and cap arrangement for their LC-1 equivalent?
audidudi Posted November 14, 2008 Share #6 Posted November 14, 2008 Just a thought, but did Panasonic provide the same kind of hood and cap arrangement for their LC-1 equivalent? Yes, they did and the parts are interchangeable (I know this for a fact because I have a D2 and a pair of LC1s). The hood & cap can be ordered from their online parts site for just under $26 plus shipping: VYK1F94 LENS CAP UNIT 10.96 VYQ2884 LENS HOOD UNIT 14.62 Here's the link to their site: Parts Ordering Remember, though, that the Panasonic lens cap says "Lumix" on it rather "Leica." :-(
cfc247 Posted November 14, 2008 Author Share #7 Posted November 14, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) audi, thank you so much for the link! Do you know if the Leica cap will fit on the pany hood? If you have both, could you confirm please? Thanks again for the info!
audidudi Posted November 14, 2008 Share #8 Posted November 14, 2008 audi, thank you so much for the link! Do you know if the Leica cap will fit on the pany hood? If you have both, could you confirm please? Thanks again for the info! Yes, the caps are dimensionally identical and can be swapped back and forth. I believe the hoods are absolutely identical -- i.e., there are no differences between the Panasonic and Leica versions -- but I don't have one of each handy at the moment, so I can't say for certain. In any event, it's definitely possible to use a Leica cap with a Pansonic hood, as I've done it a few times when I was working with both cameras and not being careful about keeping track of which was which... FYI, I'm at home now and have access to both the Panasonic and Leica lens hoods. If only for the benefit of the archives, I can now confirm that, as I expected, they are identical in every respect. cfc247 Posted December 1, 2008 Author Share #14 Posted December 1, 2008 John, I got my lens hood from Panny's site (see audi's post above for the link) for about $10.50 (Leica was charging $60 for the exact same piece of cheap plastic) and then paid $30 for the cap from Leica (the Lumix version from Panny was around $10). Great.... like I said, they're showing back-ordered... but I'll place an order anyway. I need a Lumix set. Thanks, JT
symmetron Posted December 2, 2008 Share #16 Posted December 2, 2008 I never use my hood after some testing where I didn't really see any effect with or without it. Without it, I also use a Zing neoprene SLR case which makes the entire package smaller and more compact.
cfc247 Posted December 3, 2008 Author Share #17 Posted December 3, 2008 Symmetron, which Zing model do you use? Could you put up some pics with the D2 in it? Thanks.

andybarton Posted June 30, 2009 Share #19 Posted June 30, 2009 Since buy and sell ads are not allowed in open forum threads, anyone who wants to buy anything, through the forum, simply needs to place an advert in the B&S section, with "WTB" at the beginning of the title. lesh Posted July 1, 2009 Share #20 Posted July 1, 2009 Since buy and sell ads are not allowed in open forum threads, anyone who wants to buy anything, through the forum, simply needs to place an advert in the B&S section, with "WTB" at the beginning of the title. Officialdom rears it's ugly head again. I don't see any buy or sell ads, just some helpful guidance on how and where to source replacement parts. One of the purposes of the forum, n'est ce pas?
