wilfredo Posted November 14, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 14, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) My M8 keeps telling me my SD Card is locked, even when the lever is down. I've tried with three different cards and it seems bent on telling me they are all locked. Sometimes, I can get it to work, but if I pull the card out and insert it again, even an empty card I see a message in the viewfinder saying the card is full, and the LED says it's locked. Do I have a problem here? Is it time for a trip to N.J.? Wilfredo Benitez-Rivera Photography

Shootist Posted November 14, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 14, 2008 You need to clean the SD slot out. Maybe some alcohol on a SD card and insert, remove, insert, remove several times. Oh Wilfrado clean out your private message folder
jkphoto Posted November 14, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 14, 2008 I would be very careful putting liquid of any sort in the camera and possible shorting between the lands on the SD card connector. I had this issue once and it was solved like this: Turn the camera off and remove the battery. Put a LOCKED SD card into the camera and turn it on. Remove the SD Card and UNLOCK it Re-insert into camera. On mine, when I did this it seemed to "re-sync" the camera and card so that the status was correct. It has also been reported that this seems to be a problem specifically with 1gb SD cards and does not happen with SDHC cards of 4gb+

I hope the problem doesn't resurface. Thanks, Wilfredo wwww.BenitezRivera.com
