like_no_other Posted November 13, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, do you know if the image quality of the successors of the Panasonic fx01/Leica C-lux 1 has improved significantly? I haven't followed the discusison at dpreview or at this place regarding compact cameras for a while but found out that the numbering system of Panasonic reached no 37 recently. I own the first camera of this series and I'm maybe interested in updating to a better model. I assume that the whole series fits into Panasonics underwater housing DMW-MCFX01. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
Advertisement Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Hi like_no_other, Take a look here IQ improvement (Pana fx01/c-lux1 successors)? . I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted November 13, 2008 Share #2 Posted November 13, 2008 I had a Pana Clux1 for a short while, before it stopped working (bought s/h off e bay, got a refund) then bought the Pana Clux2. IQ was, dare I say, ever so slightly better in the CLux1 IMHO. The later models are higher megapixels, and the newest has a 25MM wide lens. In a nutshell, I doubt you will see much difference to be honest.
isaac Posted November 14, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 14, 2008 Hello! do you know if the image quality of the successors of the Panasonic fx01/Leica C-lux 1 has improved significantly? Had bought a Pana Fx01 three years ago as a gift for my girl friend. Two years ago my Canon PowerShot S70 has died. Tried to replace it by C-Lux 2 (or the Pana equivalent) but image quality was worse than Fx01/C-Lux 1, so S70 was repaired (bad decision). Last spring I bought a new C-Lux 1 and it has grown to my "best camera", because it is always with me :-) Some weeks ago, I was going to give the new C-Lux 3 to my girl friend. For some reasons, she completely disagreed, so we exchanged it for Pana FX37. Great little thing. Image quality well above the FX01, more details, benefit of at least one f-stop overall. Have also traded my S70 (plus € 1800.-) for a M6 (plus two lenses).
