35/3.5 Summaron...Caps?

I recently picked up a nice 35/3.5 Summaron. I know its not the greatest leica lens ever but it is compact and ideal for my needs with my R-D1 which will be arriving shortly and I didn't want to spend more at this early point in my RF adventure (the R-D1 will be my first RF camera).

Anyway, I bought the lens which came in the original (?) screw case but it didn''t come with a lens cap. Does anyone know where I might be able to get one?

It doesn't even have to be an original leica, something generic would do so long as it provides some protection while attached to the camera.

I just went through this same situation with a different lens. I found original leica lens caps for a new 50 mm, summicron on ebay. It was only about $9 plus shipping. A far cry from the $40 quoted by a couple of stores in the Chicago area. Buying off ebay is always a risk, but the price difference made it worth the try!

Gareth,

The 3.5/35mm Summaron came in two versions. Earlier took 36mm push-on filters and caps, the later one took 39mm screw-in filters and 42mm push-on caps.

As Dan suggested, eBay will be probably your best bet once you determine which version Summaron you have.

All the best,

Jan
