Guest flatfour Posted November 7, 2008 Share #3 Posted November 7, 2008 That's a good idea to pull up their platforms - except the nearest hut with a side window. It's the old conundrum - If you clearly lock everything up it tells you there's something worth taking. Why do houses with closed front gates get burgled more than those who leave them open ? A burglar alarm is a similar attraction. Maybe it's different oop north ! There are rather a lot of unfriendlies in the environs of London.

It certainly is different up here; we all leave our doors unlocked but of course all the other folks along our terrace keep an eye on each other's back to back two up two down. Of course I do keep my pigeon loft locked and my whippet always come in to sleep in the zinc bath at night.
andybarton Posted November 9, 2008 Share #5 Posted November 9, 2008 Up North, people talk to their neighbours. Down South they don't. Having been born and bred in Berkshire, I know where I'd rather live.
